First full day! Saturday February 27th, 2016

Last night we left the island on the 530 slow boat after a windy couple of days on Nantucket. A phalanx of dear friends came to meet us in line for the boat and shoved pennies into our hands to throw from the boat while we round Brant Point on our way to "America". Why are people urged to contribute to the copper concentration of Nantucket Harbor? It is believed if you throw two pennies as you round Brant Point, you will eventually return safely to the Grey Lady. Nantucket was designated as the best island in the world by National Geographic in 2012. Our friends were using some not so subtle magic to ensure that someday we would return to hug them again. Their kind visit capped off a month of festivities and parties with many sad goodbyes.

Tonight we are in Harrisburg Pennsylvania after driving through MA, CT, NY, NJ, and parts of PA. Our caravan consists of 2 cars, 2 cats, 2 men, 2 women (our friends joined us for the cross country drive) and one dog, we should pick up another dog for symmetry. Tomorrow morning on our way out we may stop at the Rockville Bridge which is the longest stone arch bridge in the world.

My little Subaru hybrid Crosstrek is finally getting some miles on it after only 4000 on island in the last 1.3 years.
